EXPLORE PERTH'S COUNTRYSIDE
Escape to the countryside for a weekend exploring the food, the farms, and the beautiful natural surroundings on the Chittering Farm Flavour Trail!
Choose from a range of itineraries to suit your schedule and season:
Easy to find – travel along Great Northern Highway and onto Chittering Road to enjoy our beautiful Tourist Drive through the stunning Chittering Valley, discover a winery or two and then explore beyond to unearth a bounty of fresh produce from the region. With so much seasonal produce you may need more than one visit to appreciate the different colours and flavours of Chittering.
Although you will have a great time in Chittering all year-round, springtime (August to November) is hands down, the best time of year to take on the Farm Flavour Trail.
Not here in spring? Never fear. Take the suggested ‘Off-Season’ itinerary across the page or contact the Chittering Visitor Centre for suggestions.

SPRING FLING WEEKEND
Whisk yourself away for a weekend in the Chittering Valley. If it is around spring you’ve come at the perfect time.
Day 1
Whether you’re waking up at a farmstay or driving up in the morning start Day 1 with a short wildflower walkthrough Djidi-Djidi Ridge, before rewarding yourself with a platter, or pizza and a tasting of plonk from Nesci Estate Wine Farm. If you’ve got the time maybe get the know-how to grow-your-own produce at Thrive Sustainability or Muchea Tree Farm. Round up the day out with a generous dinner with award-winning wines at Stringybark Winery and Restaurant, before hitting the hay at one of Chittering’s farmstays, like Orchard Glory Farm Resort.
Day 2
Grab a coffee and pastry at the famous Bindoon Bakehaus and stock up on some produce supplies from the Northern Valleys Locavore Store. Swing by the Chittering Visitor Centre for award-winning olives and local knowledge, then pick yourself up some tasty mandarins from Oversby’s Citrus. Pop into Wootra Farm, a working asparagus farm with produce and preserves at the ‘Asparavan’, before heading to Little Eeden Farm Honey & Apiary for a tasty lunch and honey tasting amongst the animals. Make sure to pick up fresh local avocadoes from Avalon Farm before finishing at the final farm gate with hand-crafted cheese from The Local Goat.
MIDWEEK MISSION
Explore the Chittering region on a weekday, all year round.
Depending on what day you arrive here, Chittering still has some curiosities during the week. The Bindoon Bakehaus will gladly fill that cake or lunch-shaped hole in your stomach. The Locavore is open through the week with fresh, local produce. The Visitor Centre can help you to find some interesting walk trails, and if you’re here Wednesday onwards, Stringybark Winery is good for a sneaky midweek wine with lunch and Wootra Farm is open the same days during season.
JUST A TASTE
Enjoy a day trip of the Chittering Valley tasting and visiting local produce businesses and farm gates during the springtime on the weekend.
Looking to jump in the car and get lost in the countryside for the day? This essentials trip will be just the ticket. Starting off with a pit stop for coffee and supplies at the Bindoon Bakehaus and Locavore Store, then onward to Chittering Visitor Centre for award-winning olives and local knowledge, then to Wootra Farm to check out the asparagus and the ‘Asparavan’. Grab morning tea and/or essential delicious honey supplies from Little Eeden Farm Honey & Apiary, walking it off with a short meander through the wildflowers at Djidi-Djidi Ridge. Enjoy lunch and wine at Stringybark Winery, or Nesci Estate (or wine/beer at both?) to finish off the day.
OFF SEASON EXPLORER
Weekend Day Trip (Dec-July)
If you’ve only got a day to spare most of “JUST A TASTE” trail will work out perfectly for you. If you’re in the mood for a drive the delicious cheese at The Local Goat would be a worthy substitute for Wootra Farm which will be closed outside of season during this time.
